We can build toy robots fluent in their movement and human actions, complex mechanics and robotics beyond the comprehension of most. We can send humans or robots to other planets and control them  from millions of miles away. Why can we not build a human size robot fluent in it's movement and mimicry of a human and rich in its artificial intelligence.. the answer.. WE CAN.

It is thanks to corporations and governments worldwide who suppress the progress of innovations & technology because of the lack of a financial feasibility of a project or the need to uphold control over the general populas. For example; We have already built Humvees that can drive themselves completely, using AI to understand the environment around it, it can drive hundreds of miles across desert lands not even remotely controlled. (see: http://www.redteamracing.org/) This technology could be used to save the lives of soldiers in war, to recover wounded soldiers from fire-fights. But of course the government will see it as financially unfeasible; not willing to drive these multi-million dollar vehicles into a fire-fight every time just to save a soldier or two. Another example; you may think it sounds silly (but I dont), why do you think its not foreseeable to see the likes of flying cars or jetpacks? Are you thinking thats the technology of the future? Well your wrong.. that is the technology of today. We have the technology and HAVE made working personal jetpacks and flying cars. Projects to develop such technology are obviously extremely expensive, and could not be funded by any normal individual. So in order for a new innovation to prosper it needs to be accepted and welcomed by either corporations or governments, which will supply funding so that they can utilise it. Well why would they stop you from flying?? They will never let you be in control of personal flight, if they did then they have no control. With personal flight you would have no borders or boundaries, literally. You could cross borders without the government being in control, you could move distances without being tracked or traced, now we couldn’t have that now could we? This is not freedom. In this digital age corporations & governments can suppress our progress in technology and innovations with (some) stupid copyright & patent laws, remember that please. Also note: The media lies. Do not take every word they say as the gospel truth, im not saying all the media networks lie, its certainly worse in a America, but they only tell you things how they wish you to portray it, and they too could have a agenda they want to stick to for either financial or other gain.

You think they cant simply upscale this technology? Of course they can. It wouldn't take that much funding in comparison to what governments waste on wars or party campaigns. £15,000,000 would easily be spent on a governmental party campaign!.. that could be sent on research into robots or upscale innovations like this, imagine the possibilities.
